MARCH 26-27

Ok here I am just got back from the Beatport Pool Party. It's day two of WMC 09' and today has been the best day for me and my wife so far. Thursday wasn't bad but the line up didn't do it for me as much as todays. I did attend a Q&A on Thursday with Morgan Page & Stryke a.k.a. Greg, that was realy cool! I learned allot and it was good to experience something other than just the parties. Ok so back to Friday I must say today was pure house with the likes of ATFC, Dennis Ferrer, Little Louie Vega, Sneak & Laid Back Luke. So far the hottest WMC 09' hit is "Michel Cleis - La Mezcla" So hot Dennis and Louie both droppedit in their set. But the best was DJSneak answer to that when he played "Todd Terry: Gypsymen - Barbarabatiri" this took me back to my early days of spinning vinyl WOW! what a great timeless track to drop. Well I'm off to sleep still have two more long and intense days of sun & music.

MARCH 28-29

In light of what I have just read Re: The dispute between Steve Angello and Paris Hilton (Beatport is the source). I have decided to title this part of my WMC09' diary "Do I Look Like A Fucking Jukebox To You?"

Ok so first let me comment on Saturday. It was a beautiful day @ The Beatport Pool Party the line up was strong and full of good Dj's like Dj Hell, Radio Slave, Josh Wink, Steve Lawler, Marco Carola & Adam Beyer. In my opinion I enjoyed Friday's line up better. But it was really cool seeing and getting to meet Dj's like Stryke, John B, Roger Sanchez, Scumfrog, Steve Angello & Richie Hawtin.

Now back to the gossip @ WMC09'

"The princess of bottle service culture herself, Ms. famous-for-no-particular-reason, Miss Paris Hilton, was publicly humiliated by Swedish house mafia man Steve Angello in move that will leave DJs around the world cheering his name till the end of time.
The LA-based diva turned up at the 1OAK party at Angello’s showcase at WMC on Thursday night/Friday morning, and found his music “was not even danceable and was frankly giving me a migraine.”

Hilton asked one of her friends who runs the hotel to change the music and the manager said between emphatic kisses of her ass, “I’ll lead you up to the DJ booth and he’ll play whatever you want.”

The age old battle between ignorant, over-privileged wannabes, and DJs trying to do their best, just went front and centre. Brilliant.
Angello claims Hilton repeatedly asked him to play hip hop. Hilton claims she only asked him to play Bob Sinclar or Daft Punk.

But whatever went down, it led to a big fight. Hilton’s friend Doug Reinhardt and her entourage got a kicking for apparently slapping Steve Angello.

Hilton’s response on her Myspace blog portrays her ignorance and self-importance in the ugly light of day.

“The DJ (I don’t even know his name cause he sucks so bad) was playing the worst music ever!,” she says. “I think he was jealous cause Bob Sinclair is a far better DJ then this guy by about a million times.

“He was so unbelievably rude and all because I asked to play one good song. Then out of nowhere his bodyguard (don’t ask me why he has a bodyguard, like he really needs one. Ha) pushed me really hard, that’s when my boyfriend, like my knight in shining armor, stepped in and told the guy to keep his hands off of me. Then all hell broke loose, it was like something out of a fight movie, it was so frightening.”

Whatever the truth, the fact is Hilton thought her fame granted her the right to use Steve Angello as her monkey DJ for the night.
How many times have us DJs been requested to play terrible records by clueless self-serving wannabes who want nothing more than to bask in their own glory?
Steve Angello just stood up for himself and his music. He went head-to-head with the biggest celebrity in the world and won. DJs around the world should rejoice."

After having read this my view of PH has changed. Now I really dislike her. Not that I ever really cared to much for her because she's a self-proclaimed famous person but I'm glad someone stood up to her. She probably was jealous of WMC because she was surrounded by people who don't give a shit about her and have more talent than she ever will. God know's how many times she's pulled that shit with other Dj's. Finally we can all look up to Steve Angello who by the way doesn't need PH to give him a popularity boost and say "Do I Look Like A Fucking Jukebox?".

Ok so let's get back to something more serious. The Dj's for Sunday closing party @ Beatport where amazing. I saw Olivier Giacomotto, Robbie Rivera, Sebastian Ingrosso & Steve Angello. Only one short of the SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA Angello & Ingrosso ripped the pool party a new asshole..lol. Much like Laidback Luke they both played an incredible set with their own mixes and mash-ups. Also It was too funny to not mention Steve Angello has an "I Love Paris" shirt...LMFAO!!!!

In closing I felt this year was more about the parties and less about the music. With that in mind I still look foward to next year.

Not all hope is lost my friends. After Quentin Tarantino revealed his top 20 favorites both in the Spaghetti Western and in the grindhouse genre (”That grindhouse list made me start coming up with mine! But it’s a good list…there’s a lot of films that … are on here.” he said), I started asking some long nagging questions. I felt as the ambassador of the fan community, I should ask what is going on with that long-overdue “integral” edition of Kill Bill, be it theatrically or on DVD. Let me take that back, actually I asked where that Kill Bill script on paperback was and Quentin assured me that it will come out in a longer version, he’s just been putting the whole movie aside for a while. As you might know, the integral version of Kill Bill that was shown once in Cannes, is no longer what you’ll eventually see, at least not completely.
“We’ve actually added some things to it. We did a whole little chapter that I wrote and designed for the animated sequence, that we never did, because we figured, back when it was gonna be one big movie, it was going to be too long, so we didn’t do it. So when we were talking about re-releasing it, they asked is there anything you can put in, and I said no I put everything in there, but… there’s one sequence that we wouldn’t even have to shoot! So we got together with Production IG and did it, and it’s really cool. So it’s this little seven minute sequence, it’s really cool, it’s in the O-Ren chapter.” - Quentin Tarantino
The version in Cannes was the way it will be, recut to be one movie, with an intermission, as supposed to two seperate ones with the cliffhanger and the tags. “It’s more like a big 60s movie with the intermission. Oh, you’ll just have to see it!” he laughs. Of course DVD release plans and all that stuff on the business end is potentially outside the influence of a director, but knowing that it’s on the way is definitely better than speculating. The Quentin Tarantino Archives will keep you posted on the development. We’ve seen conceptual artwork of the DVD case a year ago at the ComiCon, we know what Quentin has to say about it, so with some more patience we’ll have this WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR in our hands at some point. Our site's cracker-jack administrator and gracious host Sebastian Haselbeck met with Quentin on the set of his upcoming film Inglourious Basterds where he received a brand new list of Top 20 grindhouse theatrical classics which Quentin spent a considerable amount of time pouring over. A tale of grindhouse - The Tarantino Interview
"Walking down the chilly, snow-covered streets on the lot of the Babelsberg Movie Studios in Germany, you would never think that inside on the soundstage it would easily reach summer temperatures. I'm marching through the snow to meet Quentin Tarantino to talk about the movie he's shooting here, Inglourious Basterds, a homage to pre-1940s German cinema, Italian Macaroni Combat movies and other subgenres. Once I sat down with the man, I was surprised that he's got more important things on his mind: The Deuce's Top 20 list of this year. That list was a community-compiled best-of list that included a wide array of exploitation films, some obviously never shown in an actual grindhouse. "Some of these don't quite work" he said. "For instance, Female Prisoner 701 Scorpion, that was never released anywhere outside Japan... My point being, it has to been played in a grindhouse." Some of the other movies on the list got a nice laugh out of Quentin; "I Drink Your Blood, gimme a break" he said, chuckling. "The Exterminator, okay maybe if you're a little younger than me and you've never seen an R-rated movie before in your life, then maybe The Exterminator was like really cool. But other than the explosion shot where that guy goes flying, that movie just totally doesn't deserve it to me." Our list also has Dirty Mary Crazy Larry on it, which is "not really a grindhouse movie" Quentin goes on explaining "that was a big 20th Century Fox movie. It played in grindhouses and drive-ins, you know. The same way like Halloween could be on here, but Friday the 13th...couldn't, because that was a Paramount movie." Having said all that, Quentin takes another drag of his cigarillo that sits there on his desk, next to thousands of notes, books and movie props (I see Nazi helmets and other military items in the back of the room) and he says "Okay now, here's mine...might be just a little bit more than twenty...so enjoy!" - Sebastian Haselbeck

INGLORIOUS BASTARDS MOVIE POSTER

I’m so excited that QT’s WWII movie is finally going to get done. After hearing about this project for the past five years it’s good to see Tarantino committing to this project especially since he takes long between each movie he does. I recently got an internet copy of the script a few weeks ago and I’ve been taking my time reading it because after just reading the first two chapters I can’t put it down. So I’m going to try and wait for the movies instead so I can get the full experience the way QT intended it.

Also This is NOT a remake of the 1977 Italian war movie Quel Maledetto Treno Blindato aka Inglorious Bastards but it is partly a homage to it (as far as the same title) and various other American and Italian "men on a mission" World War II movies like The Guns of Navarone, Where Eagles Dare, The Dirty Dozen and Five For Hell. It is also heavily influenced by French New Wave cinema and Spaghetti Westerns. Anyways my main reason for this post is I got a sneak peek at the teaser poster and I wanted to share it on here also the latest news is he’s already started casting. The official release date is scheduled for summer 2009.
